Default Me/N PvE... how do you do it?

My Me/N tore through post-searing Ascalon and made it through the northern Shiverpeaks without a problem. Now he's in the depths of the Maguuma Jungle and he's hit a wall. I can't seem to find a skill set/attribute distribution that's effective. Does anyone have any suggestions for some PvE builds for a Me/N? Please keep in mind that I don't have a lot of the skills for both classes, I'm only at Quarrell Falls and am about to do the Wilds mission.

You'll mostly encounter Trolls, Spiders, Scarabs, and Wind Riders in the Jungle part of the game. I'd recommend you to bring a few Necro curses in order to hinder the enemy attack. Shadow of Fear, Emfeebling Blood, and Suffering are all nice AOE hex.

Since you don't have Soul Reaping, playing Death is kinda useless...unless you can back it up with the Inspiration line to get enough energy all the time.

Empathy is always useful in PvE...since enemies are dumb and will attack anyway. Shatter Hex will also be useful when the tank on your team is getting swamped...very nice AOE dmg. Other standard Illusion spells like Phantasm would be OK too...but not too useful if you compared to Necro curses.

And if you are "really" desparate...you can put points into Blood and be a Blood Ritual guy to support your monks or ele.

A Me/N really shines in PvP. And Me primary is best used against enemy casters...which you wont find much in PvE until much later in the game. (people love mesmers in Southern Shiverpeaks and Fire Islands)

Mark of Pain and Suffering combined with putrid explosion for some Direct damage from you will be your best friend.

Inspiration to drain some energy, but fights shouldn't last long enough for it to become TOO difficult.

Here's what I'm running in PvE right now (I'm fighting mostly in the Fissure of Woe ,atm), built around pure defense.

Fast Casting: 7+1 = 8
Domination: 8+1+3 = 12
Illusion: 9+1 = 10
Inspiration: 8+1 = 9
Curses: 9

Cry of Frustration
Power Spike
Migraine
Guilt
Backfire
Inspired Hex
Enfeeble
Shadow of Fear

Generally what I do during a battle is throw Backfire on one caster, guilt on another, then migraine with interupts for a third, with Shadow of Fear and Enfeeble for warrior/rangers. Seems to working pretty well. If I'm doing well (hitting interupts, spreading SoF and enfeeble around properly), my party can get by with a single monk (normally becuase one dropped) and makes the job redicullously easy for two.

the build that i use for my mes/nec really depends on the mission. if i know that the mission is going to be heavy with warriors, then i'll equip more necro curse skills. If, say, i'm in thirsty river, i'll equip more interruptions and shutdown hexes/spells because those bosses/priests are going to be the main objective of me. You just gotta know the mission and what to expect.

Well go heavy Domination and Death Magic.

Arcan Echo (Double Chaos Storms)
Chaos Storm
Phantom Pain
Shatter Delusions (With the deep wound from PP 150+ armor ignoring damage)
Putrid Explosion
Backfire
Empathy or Energy Burn or .........
Res Sig (Always good to have along)

Just let the mobs group around the melee fighters and cast 1-2 Chaos Storms, Phantom Pain, Shatter Delusions, Putrid Explosion when the first one drops. Use Backfire on annoying caster mobs.

That should serve you pretty well almost anywhere in PvE. Please note that Putrid will not work on nonflesh mobs. If you are heading into areas with lots of unflesh mobs swap out putrid.
